LOSH Chat 7-25-98 --------------------------------------------------------------- 1.)OMEGA'S Ramblings Welcome to issue 9 of Digested Digest. Right now my local MSN is having some problems but I only use MSN for e-mail anyway (and that's the problem). So hopefully there won't be any problems as I send out this issue. Before I get to the main purpose of this Ramblings I would like to send say to Amy Golden I hope you are having fun in PC, sorry I couldn't come and visit. And to Mylene Jenius, I hope you had a great time in Paris. In DD#1 I put a prophesy of Nostrodamos that concerns this very year. In fact the very time table is set to happen August 6-7, 1998. And this concerns a person who will be driving and see a UFO with alien beings outside it. He will grab his video camera and tape it all. Within a matter of days this film will be on every news show there is. The reason I included it is because it is one of the few Prophesies Nostro did that we can watch happen and actually see if his visions can be trusted or not. Sure people say he prophesied all those wars and deaths in the past be we only assumed that as an after thought. But for a change lets actually SEE it happen. If anyone learns anything to support this PLEASE LET ME KNOW. ablarnold@msn.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 2.) Web Site Showcase Pioneer Animation http://www.pioneeranimation.com/ I can personally say I have seen this site grow from a nothing promise to a framed mess. This has to be a site with the most promise but the lamest programmers on the face of the earth. But that is going to all change, because Pioneer is finally in the mood to make their Anime site a real news center. Currently they have…. ~ Information about all their upcoming and old products. ~ Ani-Mayhem card game info. ~ The official Dragon Ball Z page. ~ Promises of a on-line ordering service. And tons more stuff you just gotta see to believe. MIXX-ZINE Online http://www.mixxonline.com/ First I gotta say this site has gone through some MAJOR changes if you compare it to its' old site, which is still accessible. If you follow this link… http://www.mixxonline.com/mixxonline/corepage.html The new site now has… ~ 3 frames (top is their personal advertising banner, bottom is the navigator bar, and middle is the text.). The lay-out is a definite improvement. ~ See all the stuff Mixx-Zine didn't have room to put in there magazine. Video Game Reviews, Movie Reviews, Fan Art, new info, and tons more stuff. ~ Learn about Mixx on a cooperate level (with release/deadline dates). And even visit the Japanese Mixx-Zine Site. ~ If you like the changes Mixx did to there magazine, then see what they've done to there site. Remember: If you want your web site showcased, or just have a cool one to showcase send me the URL to ablarnold@msn.com. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 3.) MIXX-ZINE and SMILE MIXX-ZINE the only place to get the English translated form of the Sailor Moon Manga has just hit its' one year anniversary. Mixx also publishes Magical Knight Rayearth, Ice Blade, Harlum Beat, and Parasyt mangas along with reviews, news, and much more for only $4.95. You can find this book at any any place that carries Comic Books or computer stuff (Babbages). Trust me this is one of the books you learn to hunt down the bi-monthly issues. You can also get a subscription and reserve a years worth of books (6 issues). Now the Mixx has announced that the first issue of there new magazine called SMILE is set for an October release. ------------------- SMILE #1 Gear up for the Next-Gen Girl! SMILE is a lifestyle magazine covering technology for girls. Websites, software, fashion and music. SMILE will feature an advanced storyline for SAILOR MOON SUPER STARS. -------------------- NOTE: (That is from Previews August 1998, but I have heard conflicting reports that the Sailor Moon Manga feature might be Sailor Moon Super S instead of the later Sailor Moon Super Stars Manga.) For more information go to http://www.mixxonline.com/ ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 4.) El-Hazard: The Wanderers Vol. 7 Review EL-HAZARD TV1: THE WANDERERS VOL. 7 is here!!! It comes in Both Sub for $29.95 and Dub for $24.95 and includes 4 25 minute episodes (#23 to 26). If you thought that there was no hope for this series then this is the volume for you!!! Every flow created by the series is made right as the series surpasses the Tenchi Universe series. SPOILERS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Unlike Tenchi and even the El-Hazard OAV we get to see even more depth to the climatic endings. What was really at stake in Tenchi Universe? The Universe could of survived just well without that battle. But with Wanderers all of El-Hazard is faced with the 'Awakened' Ifurita who becomes one with the Eye of God and activates the destruction of ALL of El-Hazard. Though not as climatic as the OAV this series was never one to go for surprise battles. No this ending is a total compassion trip. The best thing about Volume 7 is it is one continues story. And the 'final battle' isn't even done until the first half of episode 26. The second half is the bitter-sweet epilogue that ASKS MORE QUESTIONS THAN ANSWERS THEM. - What world did Makoto go to? - How did he get back? - WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE WINGS???? Other than that the episodes are the best of the series. In fact this series as a whole is one of the best on the market. And doesn't drag on and on like Tenchi Universe does (but I have to thank it and Sailor Moon for getting me into anime). What are your thoughts on this? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 5.) Is Pioneer Getting Lazy? If you are talking about the songs then yes. In Tenchi-Muyo MOVIE 2: Manatsu No Eve the title them song of the same name is left in its' original form. Unlike Pioneers other releases in which every song that appears in the show, Opening, Ending, and Image songs are all translated and sung in English by a singer. For MNE/DOD this is not done. If you look at the translated Lyrics the song barley makes sense in its' original form. And this could be the reason for the choice not to Dub it. BUT…. EL-HAZARD 2 has both an Opening and Ending them song which have lyrics in them. As past evidence with prove you think Pioneer would spend a few dollars and Dub the songs so they can possibly sell a new CD in the future. But NO the songs are left in there original form and on the Dubbed version there are NO Subtitles for what is being sung. WHY IS PIONEER DOING THIS??? Look at Pretty Sammy 3, it has a different ending AND and image song on the bus ride. And Pioneer dubbed the songs even though it is a one time video. So why won't they do it for their new movies??? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 6.) DH Considers Skipped Oh My Goddess! Dark Horse/Studio Proteus are Considering a Release of the Skipped issues of the Comic Book OH MY GODDESS! >I was skimming through the Studio Proteus website when I happened to notice this (In fan feedback July section): >[a question by Mark Dalmadge] "We are considering releasing the “lost episodes,” but have not decided where and how yet...or even if. Fujishima is also very reluctant, and I need to do some more arm-twisting on him before we can get approval. But watch the skies..." [signed by Toren] >For full question & answer refer to the following address and scroll down a bit. http://www.studioproteus.com/fanqna01.html >Looks like SP is at least aware of the problem! ^_^ ~ Source the Megami ML July 29,1998; Verthandi@gnwmail.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ 7.) McCraw thought Jason Armstrong would be a good artist for a Brainy story, then noted that while Jason wouldn't return to Legion soon, the ex- penciller does have work for other editors. As far as Jeff knows, there aren't any plans for more Legion merchandise. They aren't planning the ‘99 annuals yet. There is a LSH SECRET FILES #2 in the works, but Tom doesn't know what the lead story will be. Jeff had a proposal for the return of Nemesis Kid. Jeff hasn't thought about drawing his trademark tongues lately. Ayla and Garth's lightning blasts have equal power levels. Tom thought that Monstress does not have mood swings; rather she's large in everything she does, and doesn't hold back. Umbra does not have new powers; she's just mastering the control of her shadows' shapes. Jeff said there's more character interaction in L* #65 compared to the Dark Circle story. When XS guest stars in the FLASH story “Chained Lightning,” the Legion books will acknowledge this by noting she's on leave. Some Legionnaires will be wandering through Metropolis soon. There are plans to resolve the deal that Vril Dox made with Neron concerning the soul of a future Brainiac. The Espionage Squad will be featured more soon. When asked when a gay Legionnaire will be outed, Jeff replied, “I suppose when he's ready.” It's unclear whether the ‘he' is a hint, or just an example of grammatical correctness (instead of saying the ambiguous “they're”). ‘He' could even refer to a writer, so take this with an extra grain of salt. :) Thom will have a new power soon. Some pre-Zero Hour villains are returning to continuity for the first time. One first appeared between SUPERBOY #200 and #210. One villain (it isn't clear whether this is the one hinted above, or another one) has been redesigned by Jeff. It's a guy with horns and appears in the “last issue that [Jeff] pencilled.” Jeff had thought it was a new villain, then Tom replied, “new but still a ‘borrowed' idea.” - -- Alex Tam goldie@intergate.bc.ca; Nachro2 on AOL ---------------------------------------------------- If you read through all of this issue then you probably learned something you didn't know. I know I did compiling and writing many of the articles in this issue. So what is next? Digested Digest #10 will be a mini-special with a few tidbits I have picked up from around the internet. I call it 'The Blast From The Past I' and the issue will hopefully have my review of The Black Cauldron in it. So see you next time, which will be real soon. Because I have DD #9-11 all going at the same time. Got any news for me? How about a Web Site to Showcase? Or just wanna unsubscribe?
