OMEGA's RAMBLINGS Right after I sent Digested Digest #10, which was the 'Blast From the Past Special #1,' I received an e-mail from Jeremy Haler concerning the Aeris Resurrection Article. >>Umm, look anywhere on the web and you will the resurrecting Aeris is a bunch of crap, in fact on this one page I went to (forgot the url, just do a search for Final Fantasy 7 on Yahoo!) even has Mr. Lansing's post to a message board telling him that he is a made up guy, and someone wanted to play tricks on the rest of the population. Granted this would be cool, but it not gonna happen. Jeremy Haler<< Yes, I do know that the resurrection of Aeris is trash. It is sading that the ending, and last two disc of the game were as they were (but you don't really care when you are playing them, only after the game is complete do you realise this). When I came across that 'Petition' I didn't do anythign because the game had already come out in the USA. But I did go to a few chat rooms and we debated the article for hours. I even put all three of the games CDs in my computer and scoward the games files. I found so interesting things. Though because of the incripting you can only make out a few of the conversations even in notepad. And the VERY large size of the ending movie (3 parts) would be an interestign one to play on the computer. Though they are in '.mov' formate the formating makes playing them nill. If anyone knows of an emulator that will play the movies please tell me. For those who want a greater understanding of the Aeris's sacrafise tape the key scenes of the game, The opening, the Death, and The Ending. And rewatch them a few times. It is clear that the game is beign told from an Omniscent Aeris perspective. That is why she is pictured at the beginning of the opening sequence. That is my two cents. ------------------------------------------------------------------ 2.) The X-Files: Season Six ep.1 Hello, all. Recently, I was lucky enough to receive an email from a woman (who just happens to have the exact same name I do) who actually watched part of the filming of The Beginning. She has given me permission to reveal what she saw. Read on: ? It was filmed in part at a hotel in Fillmore, California. My source knows the manager of this hotel. They apparently began shooting very late at night on a Friday/Saturday for this scene. It was apparently the fourth day of filming the episode out of six. ? There was a heightened police presence there because of a rumored stalker. Poor GA and DD... ? My source got there too late to see the scenes with Gillian Anderson, who left before she got there. But the scenes she did see had David Duchovny, Mimi Rogers, and the little boy who plays Gibson. ? Apparently, David and Mimi are pretty close. She saw David smooch Mimi - on the cheek - right after the scene had ended and they each parted ways. ? Gillian Anderson tidbit that I've never heard before: “Miscelanious things the security guard/Gillian body guard said: As a side note which I think is a cute little Gillian fact, she was drinking hot chocolate and dipping a banana in it. The security guard told me she was saying that she likes to dip friut into her hot chocolate and eat it that way. I thought that was interesting, and when you think about it, it sounds pretty tasty. He also said that earlier in the day, some psycho fan came running up to Gillian, shaking, and asked for her autograph. He said that the girl was so wierd and shaking that Gillian was backing off kind of afriad of that chic. I would be too! But she gave her an autograph any way.” Boy, is that woman a good sport. And now, for an actual description of what the scenes contained: “In one scene, Diana Fowley drives up to another car which I think Mulder was in at the motel. She's going really fast and does one of those screech stops. Mimi didn't do this driving, her body double did. She gets out of the car and Mulder walks over to her and says, “What are you doing here, Diana?” and something else I couldn't make out cause of the famous Mulder mumble. They did it quite a few times too and I still couldn't understand him!” “In another scene, Gibson Praise comes out of the hotel room with Mulder and he's got a shaved head and a huge X scar on his head. I'm guessing this is due to a lobotomy like procedure that the consortium did to remove his psychic abilities. The final shots included a still of the pool area. While they were doing this, we were standing with them and watching and I realized I was standing next to Kim Manners. When it was over I walked up to him, shook his hand and told him how much I admired his work and the show, etc. I explained how I got there late and he assured me they'd be filming in the area again.” So, Gibson's alive, and has most likely had a lobotomy. So is Diana Fowley, and she's still after Gibson. And a terrible driver to boot... TON OF STAR WARS NEWS STAR WARS rumors are a dime a dozen, and the following is totally unconfirmed, but my sources tell me the “official” tentative title of the film is STAR WARS EPISODE I: HOPE FOR THE FUTURE, which I think ties in nicely with A NEW HOPE... I'm told HOPE will be announced via the official STAR WARS site next month, as will a whole mess of new images from the film. A two-minute trailer before this Thanksgiving's STAR TREK: INSURRECTION is also expected. ~Source: ZENtertainment #238 George Lucas has announced the official release date of the STAR WARS prequel will be May 21st, 1999. Lucas made the announcement on the official STAR WARS website, and added that the FOX-distributed film would not receive a record-breaking wide release, but rather a limited release to theaters with an “emphasis on quality.” “I'm not trying to break any records,” says Lucas, “I'm interested in quality presentation, and a positive group experience for everyone who comes to see this film. This Week Is Klordny Week Shame on you if you don't know this is Klordny Week. This year it's August 10-16. It's also the 40th anniversary of the Legion, which will just happen to be celebrated at Comic Con International: San Diego. Serendipity strikes again. Clip and save for future reference: 1999: Aug. 9-15 2000: Aug. 7-13 2001: Aug. 13-19 2002: Aug. 12-18 Klordny Week, as I've been saying for a while now, is just An Excuse To Have A Party. Plus it's International Elvis Appreciation Week, but I didn't know that when I created the holiday back in 1995 (the fact that Klordny Week is the week that contains my birthday is pure coincidence). Raise a glass of Kono juice, for those who are under legal drinking age. Frozen margaritas (with salt) for those who are legal. Say with me now the Ritual Klorndy Toast: To freedom, friendship and frunt! (Whatever that means. But that's the beauty of it.... you can go out and get frunt, and you have an excuse. Sidne already has an excuse: it's the 2nd anniversary of her doctorhood!) So is Klordny a real 30th Century holiday or just an excuse to have a big party? Probably just an excuse to have a big party. Unfortunately, the original reason for this has been lost in the mists of time, since no one in the 30th Century knows why it's being celebrated, just that it's a time to celebrate. Everyone is in on the joke except the newbies, as revealed in “Superboy and the LSH” 232 (Oct. 1977): Violet: So what do you think of Klordny Festival, Superboy? Superboy: I like it, Shrinking Violet, but I still don't know what we're celebrating! Garth: We're celebrating Klordny Week, Superboy—what else? Imra: Do me a favor, Lightning Lad... shut up and dance! Superboy: No, really, Salu... everyone's been wishing me a good Klordny Week—but nobody's told me what Klordny is! Violet: It's a festival, Superboy—didn't you have festivals in the 20th Century? Superboy: Oh sure... Mardi Gras in New Orleans, San Gennaro in Little Italy, Guy Fawkes Day in England... but what's a Klordny? Violet: If you don't know, Superboy—why should I spoil the fun by telling you? Suffer, friend—suffer! Klordny is typically celebrated with drinking and dancing. In the above scene, Shrinking Violet and Superboy were doing the twist on anti-grav disks along with Lightning Lad and Saturn Girl aboard “The Glory of Ganymede” luxury space liner. In a later scene, Cosmic Boy and Colossal Boy are aboard a UP Space Platform outside the orbit of Pluto visiting Gim's cousin Rogir Allon. Rogir and Gim have a drink: Rogir: The ritual Klordny Toast... “to Freedom, Friendship, and Frunt!” It was good of you to come, Gim. And good of your pal to join us! Gim: You're my cousin, Rogir, and when I heard you'd be on duty here with the U.P. Space Patrol all during Festival Week—well, we Allons like to stick together! This Klordny dedicated to the memory of our fallen (for now) comrade, Gim “Leviathan” Allon. -- Michael R. Legionnaires #65 L* 65 - aftermath to the Dark Circle “saga” Page By Page Review By Basil D Tsiokos As Posted To The LOSHML ? the cover is a nice idea, working themtically with the previous six, and spotlighting Brainy at the same time. two problems: it's by Moy (and not Sprouse) and there's no Koko perched on his shoulder! SPOILERS------------->>>>>>>> First off - i found myself actually looking forward to this issue, despite how unimpressive I found the Dark Circle story. i like aftermath/reflection issues, chiefly for the characterization opportunities they afford. This is probably the first issue of L* I've overwhelmingly enjoyed in the past few months. anyway, general comments: pg 1-4: The espionage squad sting ? while I enjoy watching the EspSquad in action, this felt like too many pages for what it was. i mean, i'm glad to see there was SOME point to Ayla and Lu going to Winath, but 4 pages? (and will we find out what Esp Squad purpose Reep and Jeka were hoping to serve by returning to their home planets at the beginning of the Dark Circle story?) pg 4-6: Condo/Lyle interview ? Condo is drawn looking older (shvaughn age?), as chat reports have previously mentioned. i'm very much doubting that Lyle and he will end up being a romantic pair (unfortunately), and I still wonder about turning Chemical King into a background character when they could have brought in a preboot reporter like Marella Tao. ? These opening pages looked A LOT like the opening pages of the post Mordru aftermath issue, #51, no? ? Jeka's dad's appearance and the Composite Durlan's appointment is revealed very early on in RJ's statement on pg 5. pg 4 and pg 10: Lu individuating ? What if one Lu does grow her hair? can she do that? and they're bickering again, like they did right before the Emerald Legion. pg 6-10, 14: Brainy's Journal ? very unlikely that he WOULD follow Dr. Ryk'rr's suggestion (good use of her, even if offpanel -ie, she's not been forgotten), but this works here and lets us check in with some L* who have gotten short shrift (ie, Jan, Val, Lar...) ? why is Tasmia so annoyed at Gates? her reactions seemed overblown for what we're shown... ? the third panel of pg 9 is so unnecessary - why is this from tenzil's POV? ? nice opportunity used to get some tidbits about Gates' and Val's backgrounds. also fitting that Tasmia shares Gates' views (what with her lack of a mother figure too) pg 11-12: The Xanthuan L* ? the transition between panels 2-3 is really jarring ? Thom's flame breath/flame burps - wow. and wouldn't let Staq in? ? why is LSH 104 referenced for Thom's accident? that seems wrong - he had his accident a long time ago... did they mean to reference Legends #4? ? Jenni/Dyrk possibilities still? ? there are some real possibilities in the recall of the Xanthuan L* - ie, more about the Amazers, their friends and families, helping to flesh out Jazmin and Candi. this could make a nice subplot for a couple of issues. pg 13-20: Durla stuff ? i liked the Laurel/Durla stuff throughout, and i can deal with Laurel being stationed on Durla - i just hope we get to check in with her every now and then. ? RJ and Leejah as a couple? they seem awfully friendly...well, if RJ WERE a Durlan... ? looks like some sort of resolution to the Ayla/Reep thing - they look pretty much like a couple by issue's end...perfect time for Brin to appear? ? pg 14 - the Durlan becoming a raccoon had very awkward speech - a persistent Stern/Merlo problem - too many people speaking/thinking ? pg 16 - always seems out of character for shy Vi to stay in giant form whe not necessary... ? nice to see Amilia and McCauley still hanging out. i like the pairing ? i appreciated the check-in with Xanthu and Khundia and the SPs (though I still want to know what the hell the deal is with Imra as an SP, and just what the hell that whole SP Esp Squad thing was - because it still doesn't make any sense) ? and it's also a good thing that the jeka/reep relationship thing is finally made clear to her dad. pg 21-22: Brainy's resolution ? while a little too pat for my taste (felt like a SuperFriends cartoon with the laughter at the end and the moral lesson), I'm glad that there's some sense of resolution, though i hope he reflects on his mom some more in future issues, as this shouldn't disappear too quickly... Like i said, i was pleased to a great extent with this issue - now that the mess of the Dark Circle story is over, i hope that the creative team can start to make things interesting again... Tom thinks that L* #67 has the first of Chris Sprouse's covers. Tom said that Tom Peyer had had an idea for an Earth 1/Earth 2 Legion Elseworlds. There are no plans for Darkseid to appear in the 30th Century. Tom isn't sure if reporter Condo Arlik has powers. Laurel's post-anomaly powers are still developing. This week's L* #65 focuses on Brainy, who still unofficially carries the ‘5.1' at the end of his codename. The following issue of L* showcases Lyle. Karate Kid gets some action in LSH #110. Some rough ideas have been cooked up for the Legion of Super-Villains. XS will appear in the FLASH story “Chained Lightning” which revolves around the family. Tom indicated that Violet may soon become interested in someone, who isn't Lyle. The cancellation of POWER OF SHAZAM! should make the use of Thunder a little more flexible, although the creators will still be checking with POS writer Jerry Ordway. She might be more powerful than the 20th century Marvels since she doesn't have to share her powers. With her arrival, the stories in LSH will feature some new planets. Tom didn't know if we'd see her homeworld. The next year of L* will feature a two-parter with magic and Dragonmage. In L* #68, Monstress is accused of being a traitor. *****And I'm outta here! For the next week and some, I'll be away on vacation. Chat reports will probably resume on Tuesday, August 25, with information from the chats I will have missed.***** ?
