English Adaptation Work for TOKYOPOP

In 2002, I began work on the series Love Hina as a freelancer for TOKYOPOP, starting with volume 2 of the manga (i.e.: Japanese comic book). Since that time I have seen that high profile series through to a happy conclusion and was able to work on the kid-friendly, Mobile Fighter G-Gundam manga, Koge-Donbo's delightfuly quarky Pita-Ten and Ken Akamatsu's earlier work A.I Love You--a title that I helped to champion for licensing consideration. All of these titles have meet with great success and have helped expand the North American manga market thanks to TOKYOPOP publishing them in the authentic Japanese right-to-left page format. The three Pita Ten Official Fan Books were the final rewrites I completed for TOKYOPOP before taking an editor position with Seven Seas Entertainment.

As you may be curious as to what rewrite (a.k.a. English Adaptation) entails, it basically consists of going line-by-line through the literal English translation of the book and performing a painstaking rewrite of the script in order to not only make the dialogue and text more concise, but also to fit the character speak and the size of the word balloons. In all of these books, you can note my name under the "English Adaptation" credit.

Aside from manga I have also worked on two of the Gundam Technical Manuals that TOKYOPOP put out to coincide with Bandai's release of the anime versions of Char's Counterattack and G-Gundam. In addition to my rewrite work, I've also written several of "The Story Thus Far" text, back cover blurbs and next volume blurbs for some of these titles.
