In the DC Universe evil is known by many names: Darkseid, The Joker, Luthor, Bane, Mongul, The Mist, Trigon, Kobra, and countless others. these are villains defined by their lust for corruption and malice. But beyond them all is an even greater evil--a being whose name, hidden until now. Will soon be carved in fire across the minds--and souls--of
villain and hero alike: NERON. To some he will be the ultimate adversary, to others, the ultimate opportunity. And to a particular
few--he will be the catalyst of the damnation in UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED.
UNDERWORLD UNLEASHED is the story of Neron, an ageless entity of immeasurable demonic power whose presence amplifies evil in the DC Universe --- permanently. He is first and foremost tempter, a deal-maker, possessing an insatiable appetite for human souls. But Neron's tastes are insidious. He hungers for souls to corrupt, souls he can obtain by exploiting the all-too-human capacity for free will --- and the souls of heroes are the ones he craves most.
Earth's villains are the key. By fulfilling their desires for wealth, power, information --- and tools they may want --- Neron secures his pawns. Soon the world becomes under siege by superchanged villains waging all-out war, raising the stakes for Earth's ever more desperate heroes, pushing their moral convictions to the breaking point and, in some cases, beyond. By forcing the heroes into circumstances in which they can only stop the evil by making "deals with the devil," Neron will enjoy more success than ever he had bargained for.
