The Unofficial LEGENDS Biography
Beyond the brittle barriers of sanity lies the hate-filled planet Apokolips-a domain ruled exclusively by the evil Darkseid, who schemes endlessly against the heroes of our world! Lately, however, he has come to realize that the nobles spirits of Earthlings can never be bent to his will so long as there are legends of heroes and super-heroes to inspire common folk to greatness. This realization, then, enkindles Darkseid's 'Operation: Humiliation' a plan to rob the world of its legends-a plan that begins with Brimstone and Macro-Man, who rampage through New York City!
The dark seed of suspicion begins to flower within the hearts of men and women the world over as Darkselid's "Operation: Humiliation" continues to blossom! One of Darkseid's most loyal lieutenants, Glorious Godfrey, uses his power over men's minds to infiltrate the media and create a favored anti-hero campaign that sweeps through America like wildfire! Across the country, super-heroes are suddenly persecuted and attacked by the common man, those whom they are sworn to protect-while, in New York, what little remaining faith the public has in its super-powered champions is crushed when Brimstone defeats the Justice League of America with ridiculous ease! The end result? Bowing to the will of the people, the President of the United States (Regan) passes a law that immediately brands all super-heroes as outlaws!
Though now fugitives from justice thanks to Darkseid's "Operation. Humiliation," the super-heroes refuse to give up the fight against the Lord of Apokolips' Earthbound allies-Glorious Godfrey, Brimstone, and Steppenwolf's giant mechanical War Dogs! Fortunately, our champions do not fight alone! Several recalcitrant rogues enter the fray as the Suicide Squad, a band of criminals who volunteer to forgo their super-villainous ways in exchange for freedom! The final showdown between the super-heroes and Darkseid's pernicious pawns comes on the streets of the nation's capital, when Dr. Fate assembles an army of super-warriors-including Guy Gardner, Captain Marvel, Martian Manhunter and Blue Beetle--to form a now Justice League from the ashes of the old! Realizing that they have been beguiled into betraying their super-powered saviors, the people of America once more embrace the legends that Darkseid failed to destroy!
