The Unofficial INVASION! Biography
Over the years, various alien races have gained one form of domination or another within the Milky Way Galaxy. From time to time, some races sought alliances to maintain better control of the balance of power. And, from time to time, such alliances were
hated by the universe's sworn protectors, the Green Lantern Corps. Some 15 years ago, such an alliance was broken up by Sinestro and Hal Jordan, preventing the Dominators, Khunds, and the Citadel from joining forces.
Then, not long ago, the Guardians of the Universe announced that mankind was destined to achieve cosmic greatness within a millennium and they offered to help guide man along his path. This revelation caused great consternation throughout the known galaxy, since so many other dominant
star-faring races lacked the genetic diversity that Earth's population enjoyed. And so an alliance was formed between the Citadel, Psions, Dominators, Khunds, Thanagarians, Warlords of Okaara, Gil'Dishpan, Durlans, and Daxamites to prevent Earth from obtaining control of the stars.
A well-planned alien effort began, with the Alliance hunting down the then-powerless members of the Green Lantern Corps and killing them. Many mercenaries, including the Spider-Guild, did the Alliance's bidding, preparing for a full-scale invasion of Earth and the enslavement of mankind. As a prelude to that day, some fifty humans were kidnapped from around the world and subjected to barbaric tests, as the Dominators searched for the reason why so many humans obtain super-powers. Of the fifty, seven miraculously survived. They were imprisoned, pending testing, next to members of other races, Including a Coluan named Vril Dox and Rann's protector, Earth-born Adam Strange.
The Invasion was swift and merciless. Australia quickly fell and the Dominators ordered Earth to surrender. The United Nations quickly convened while Earth's meta-humans were told to sit tight and wait for orders from government leaders, Some chose to obey, others did not, and the battle to save Earth began.
Around the globe, heroes rushed to aid armed forces, In the South Pacific, Firestorm, Firehawk, Power Girl, and Starman held one front, while Manhunter and Flash handled matters south of the border. Checkmate's forces were stretched to the limit as they worked around the world. But there was a price to pay, as witnessed by the self-sacrifice of Celsius of the Doom Patrol to help save Atlantis. During all this, Superman met with the alien alliance and achieved a temporary cease-fire, an unsuccessful attempt to negotiate peace.
A gathering of Earth's mightiest heroes, headed by Captain Atom, led an assault an hour before the end of the ceasefire, and the battle began anew. A second front was also initiated by Amanda Waller and her Suicide Squad, as many of Earth's villains were recruited to help save the world. Changing the equation somewhat was the newfound super-powers of the Daxamites. The Daxamites realized that should the Alliance conquer Earth, Daxam could fall next. This ultimately led to Earth's first treaty with another world and the Daxamite assistance tremendously helped Earth's chances. One Daxamite died during this conflict, but his son, Lar Gand, has taken on the mantle of protector and has gained a universal reputation as Valor.
The Alliance also had problems from their own prisoners as Vril Dox led a conglomeration of aliens to an escape. Joining in the fray were the Omega Men and the seven human survivors of the aliens' grisly experiments, a group who banded together under the name Blasters.
Finally, the Dominators' research led them to conclude that humans possessed something dubbed the metagene, which allowed them to alter their physiology to accommodate superpowers. They theorized, however, that a gene bomb might overload the gene and kill the populace, allowing the Alliance to win. The bomb went off, but not as planned. Thousands of civilians and heroes fell victim to the fallout. Scott Fischer of the Doom Patrol died, Lodestone of the DP went into a deep coma for nearly two years, members of the villainous Power Elite died In battle, and countless others metamorphosed during the hours that followed.
Then it was decided that a special team should be sent to the Dominion
homeworld to bring the battle back to where it started. Guy Gardner, Hal Jordan, Robotman, Starman, Rocket Red, J'onn J'onzz, and Superman began their galactic journey. En route, they teamed up with the Blasters and Omega Men, using a stolen spacecraft flown by mercenary pilot Churljenkins. The fight on the Dominion
homeworld was swift and decisive. Despite the support of the Citadel, the Dominators were not accustomed to the fire power brought on by the galactic heroes and they crumbled. During the melee, the experimental antidote to the gene bomb was found and brought back to Earth.
The antidote worked, and Earth's heroes, villains, and civilians resumed their normal activities. The Alliance sought to control Earth and its inhabitants in addition to conquering the populated galaxy; Ironically, they helped create the galactic police force known as L.E.G.I.O.N., and the Blasters also continue to spread throughout the galaxy the good word about mankind's potential. If anything, Earth Is better protected than it was before the Invasion and the universe is also a safer place in which to live.
