The Unofficial COSMIC ODYSSEY Biography
Anti-Life! The scheming sovereign of Apokolips, Darkseid, long believed it to be the secret to galactic conquest, the formula that would give him complete control over the universe! What Darkseid does not know-and what the New God named Matron discovers instead through an errant
journey to a neighboring dimension-is that Anti-Life is no mere intellectual concept, no resource to be exploited! It is, instead, a sentient, omnipotent shadow intent on demolishing our own universe! To lay the groundwork by which it can safely enter our realm, the Anti-Life hurtles mighty fragments of itself towards four of our planets. The destruction of any two of the worlds-including Earth-will give the Anti-Life free passage into our dimension!
The dark and the light-Darkseid and Highfather, protector of the peace and ruler of New Genesis-are forced into an uneasy alliance by the coming of the Anti-Life! Recruiting heroes from Earth and New Genesis alike, the two rulers send super-powerful teams to protect the planets threatened by this
extra dimensional entity. Orion and Superman go to Thanagar; Starfire and Lightray travel to Rann; and John Stewart and Martian Manhunter journey to Xanshi. While the other heroes are successful in protecting their designated planets from dark doom, John Stewart alone falls prey to confidence and is unable to keep Xanshi from perishing in a fiery while, on New Genesis, Darkseid secretly crafts a plan of his own...
Double-crossed by Darkseid! Though the heroes of Earth and their allies, the New Gods, have triumphed in their attempt to prevent the Anti-Life from destroying our universe, they soon discover that Darkseid has siphoned the sorcery of the Demon Etrigan and has gone to face the Anti-Life directly in hopes of harnessing its infinite energy! Once there, however, even the proud Darkseid realizes that his plan is utter madness! In the face of immeasurable power, Darkseid flees-but in his haste, he has left behind him a portal through which the Anti-Life can safely invade our realm and rend our universe into a billion billion fragments! Only through the timely intervention of that master of magic, Dr. Fate, are the players in this Cosmic Odyssey able to once more and forever defeat the Anti-Life!
